Welcome to the Metaphysical Bible Study Blog: The Bible In Light Of Our Ascension!

Hello, my name is Marty Dow and I am the creator of this blog as well as several other websites for spiritual seekers. These sites include: A Spiritual Oasis of FREE Inspirational Resouces, Love Can Do Anything, and Free Positive Thought Service.

I created this Bible study to share the hidden mysteries of the Bible in terms that metaphysical and other alternative spiritual seekers could more easily understand. It is not a traditional metaphysical bible study but it is designed for the metaphysical bible student.

I have had the pleasure of studying many spiritual paths on my journey. I began my spiritual quest as a child in a traditional Christian church. After my mother’s death when I was 17, I left the church disillusioned and deeply wounded. I fell into a deep state of darkness that would last for the next 5 years.

I felt that I had been lied to and tricked into believing concepts that were not valid. I no longer trusted traditional teachings or the Bible. I loved God but I had no desire to “follow Jesus.” Eventually, I began to explore alternative spiritual paths.

I dedicated myself to my studies and determined to follow my inner guidance to the best of my ability. I knew that I needed to heal my early wounds so I committed to doing whatever God led me to do.

God has guided me down a winding path through many different spiritual philosophies. I learned about meditation, metaphysical ideas, eastern theology and the existence of Ascended Masters. One day God told me to go back into the traditional Christian church. I did not want to but I obeyed God’s direction kicking and screaming the whole time! There I learned more about the Bible, faith, the Holy Spirit and experienced a deep healing from my early wounds.

I had visions and dreams that led me back and forth from the alternative spiritual world back into the traditional Christian church. At the time, I did not understand what God was doing but I promised to be obedient and so I followed my inner guidance.

I have come to understand that God intended for me to be a bridge between the metaphysical ideas I had learned and the more traditional teachings of the Bible. In my journeys, I began to see connections between all the ideas I had studied. I developed new definitions of common terms to help me bridge these different paths together.

I studied the ideas around the ascension and overcoming physical death. I was drawn to those who displayed the supernatural in their lives and ministries. I was especially interested in the power of faith and the concept of creating reality through our beliefs.

Three important events occurred that led me to become a disciple of Jesus and to this Metaphysical Bible study: The Bible In Light of Our Ascension.

The first one happened some time in the late 70’s. While preparing to join an ashram to further pursue my love for God, I had a vivid and profound dream. In the dream, the guru of the ashram I wanted to join came to my room and told me that I did not belong to him. He pointed over my bed and told me to look in the direction he was pointing. When I did I saw Jesus and his disciples standing there in vibrant color. The guru told me that I belonged to Jesus and that I should follow him.

This was not the kind of dream that one awakes from and wonders what the dream meant. I knew exactly what it meant. I changed my plans and did not join the ashram. I was not yet ready to follow Jesus but I knew it was not in Divine order for me to join an ashram.

One day I heard the Lord speak to me and say, “The Bible is sufficient for what I called you to do.” I did not understand exactly what this meant but I made a decision to drop my resistance to the Bible. I begin to study the Bible with a new found passion. Over the years, I have learned to translate Bible terms in ways that other metaphysical students could understand the hidden meanings contained in the scriptures. I discovered that the ministry of Jesus was all about the ascension and that it was my purpose to demonstrate this truth in my life and to teach others to do the same.

In the last year, I had another profound experience that has convinced me to focus all my attention on the ministry of Jesus and the path he created for our ascension into Light. One day in my prayer and meditation time, the Lord told me that the ministry of Jesus was my path to the ascension. He said that I was to step onto this path and lock the door behind me. He said that I would never explore nor follow a different spiritual path again. When in my imagination, I stepped onto the path of Jesus and locked the door behind me, the path became radiant with light and I knew that I had found my way home!

I have not arrived at the ascended state. I am on the journey with you. I do not know all the answers, in fact we are all learning together.

If you are looking for a teacher that has all the answers in a neat little package… well that is just not me! I will share with you what has been revealed to me and what works for me. I promise that I wll tell you when I don’t know an answer and tell you when I have learned something that contradicts what I have already taught you.  I promise to respect your freedom to choose those ideas that resonate to you and I hope you will respect my freedom of choice too!

We may not always agree but we can commit to walking in love even when we do not see eye to eye on some idea or concept.  I have decided to treat all people with love and respect even if their religious ideas contradict mine. It sure makes life a lot easier when I give people room to be different from me!

I believe that throughout my whole life I have been preparing for this ministry. I know that not everyone will resonate to these teachings. But I also know that there is a group of folks who like me where “religiously wounded” by there early church experiences that God is calling back to the Bible and their early love for Jesus.
