My most recent post on salvation has generated many questions. I can not answer them all at once but I will answer them all in time.
Hot Topics
For those of us that have been “religiously wounded” by our early church experiences, the questions on the meaning and method of salvation and the reality of heaven and hell generates a lot of emotional responses. These concepts often draw a line demarcation between the traditional christian and the metaphysical and/or alternative seeker. It sets up a litmus test of sorts that determines if you are “with us or against us.”
These questions are so foundational to our belief systems that many people feel that their view is completely correct and every other perspective is completely wrong. Unfortunately, the strength of these responses can often cause us to step out of love and into separation, conflict and judgment.
In addition, especially for the religiously wounded seeker, pondering these questions can cause a great deal of confusion and fear. I know because that is how I often felt when trying to sort out the truth from all the things I once believed.
I Don’t Have All The Answers
I know that is an unusual statement to hear from a spiritual/Bible teacher but it is true. I still have a lot of unanswered questions about things I see in the Bible.
Fortunately, I am not feeling quite as confused as I used to feel when I was directed by God to return to the church and learn more about the Bible. Those were very difficult times for me. I had so many conflicting ideas swirling around in my head that I sometimes felt my mind was going to explode!
I have said in the past that if you are looking for someone who claims to have all the answers you have come to the wrong teacher. I do not have all the answers in a neat little package to share with you. Besides it is not really about what I believe to be true. It is more about what you believe and the process you go through to discover the truth for yourself.
Very smart people disagree on the meaning of Bible “Truths”. Even people who attend the same church often have conflicting beliefs with fellow church members and the pastor. No one has the whole truth. We are not there yet… but I believe that we live in a time when the Holy Spirit is revealing greater and greater truths to those who are ready to receive them.
The Truth As I Understand It
On this blog, I am sharing the revelations I have received about Jesus, the new birth and the hidden mysteries of the Bible which I call Bible Ascension. It is the truth as I have come to understand it.
I hold these truths with an open hand awaiting the Lord to reveal even greater revelations to me. I have learned that if I hold on to previous ideas and beliefs too tightly, I will either miss a new and deeper understanding or God will have to blow the old one out of my hand in order for me to receive the new. I can honestly report to you that the second alternative is no fun at all!
Take what I share with you on this site and use it to evaluate what you think you know and believe.
Study the Bible with an open mind looking for new and deeper revelations of what God’s plan is for you and for the ages to come.
Pray for the spirit of wisdom and revelation knowledge to reveal these hidden mysteries to you.
Trust that God wants you to know the truth and that the Holy Spirit is guiding you right now.
Know that God loves you and wants to bless you with every good and perfect thing.
Believe that the truth is available to you and that it is the Spirit within that reveals it to you.
Measure what you once believed, what you hear from me and/or other teachers, and what you read in the Bible by the still small voice of God speaking in your heart.
A Suggested Technique
Before I go I want to give you one technique that helped me when I felt so confused as I worked through some of the old beliefs I learned at as child.
During those times I would make a list of what I KNEW to be true. Then I would stand on those beliefs until I gained more clarity and my confusion past. The list became to me a place of mental safety and peace in the eye of the storm.
Here are a few of the foundational beliefs found on my lists:
God is love.
God’s mercies endure forever and ever.
God does not want me to be afraid.
It is God’s will for all to be saved.
Give this technique a try when you are working through conflicting beliefs and feel confused.
An Upcoming Audio Clip
I am planning to create an audio clip around the questions sent to me on heaven, hell, salvation, and the Spirit. Hopefully, I will have it up by next week.
I enjoy your questions and comments. Keep them coming.
Be blessed,
Marty Dow
